CALL FOR PAPERS
4th and 5th of December of 2014 | Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island – Azores (Portugal)
In the context of economic crisis, the European youths have been placed under pressures and challenges in many areas of their individual and collective actions. The so called “most qualified generations ever” begin to experience the social transformations that occur not only in the context of multiple transitions they are merged into, namely in the assumption of marital relationship, in the transition between school and, or university systems and the labour market, but also in the mutation of social representations associated with the opportunities of social or territorial mobility.
The public policies for the youth assume a set of incentives oriented for social and political participation, association affiliation, entrepreneurship, leisure activities, sports, professional traineeships or apprenticeships, and internal or external mobility. What do these policies have in common with the principal aspirations of youth faced with a social, economical and cultural context in profound transformation?
In order to respond to this question, the Youth Observatory of the Azores is organizing in S. Miguel – Azores (Portugal), a International Colloquium entitled “The challenges of the Youth in the Ultraperipheral Regions of Europe” on 4th an 5th of December of 2014 and invite submission of papers that addresses any of the subjects related to the problematic of the challenges of the youth in insular contexts.
